Shaline Welcome
Working or training in the Hospitality Industry is a Passion that continues to flame in my life. No longer do I consider it a job or a career, but rather my existence. My daily adventures in some way always have an input in the hospitality field.

I am ever so grateful for the opportunity given to me by the Caribbean Hotel Association Education Foundation to further my burning desire at the Trinidad and Tobago Hospitality and Tourism Institution. So far, it has been a rewarding and refreshing experience for me. Though my first term was a bit rocky, I managed to stay focus and gained a 3.34 Grade Point Average and for which I am still aiming higher. This opportunity has enhanced and opened my eyes to a world of possibilities. The sky is only my limit. The now popular phrase “Yes We Can!” is my motivation as I strive to make not only the Board at Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association Education Foundation and my country feel assured and proud of my excellence, but rather my children, to whom I am their strength and mentor.

It hasn’t been a full school year as yet and already I have gained my respect from not only my students who considers me as “the most professional and organized student in class” to the Lecturers, who from time to time have asked my assistance with Lecturing Dining Etiquette. Though I am not perfect, I strive for perfection. I have engaged during the past few months very actively on the netball team and was voted Female Athlete in my first term and as recent was elected to be on a council for Lecturers Evaluation. My enthusiasm did not only stay there. I consider myself to be an individual who people look up to and one who is considered as a leader and so, as I am in the process of running for Student Guild President, a challenge I am looking forward to encounter.

There is so much experience and education that I have gained here at the Trinidad and Tobago Hospitality and Tourism Institute that is just bubbling inside me, cannot wait for the day when I finally finish to exhale and share the wealth of my knowledge and experience to not only my nation but to anyone who crosses my road. My urge to other Hospitality Workers / Educators, Trainers is to be focused, give excellent service and always consider others putting oneself in the customers shoes. You never know who’s watching you and how far you can reach with it. Trust me it makes a world of difference!!

Thank you CHTAEF for making my dream, a lifetime reality.
