My interest has always been in the Hospitality field, and after starting at the Raritan Valley Community College in New Jersey, I saw my dreams finally coming to pass in 1997. That dream soon became unattainable after my first semester, due to a family crisis back home in St. Lucia. My dad became ill and eventually passed away. Therefore, my studies had to end, as i decided to stay home and help my mother emotionally and financially. I gained employment with Helen Air Caribbean Airlines, and found stability there. I moved on to other employment after three years with the aviation company until i thought i was stable enough to return to my studies in 2005.

I realized that as much as I was determined to continue in the path of my dreams, I could not possibly do it all alone. I therefore sought the aid of the CHF by applying for a grant to study Hotel and Tourism Management in France. I knew that France was not on their list of school destinations for grants, but I gave it a try. I decided to study at Institute Vatel in France because of their hands-on teaching method. My programme is for three years and CHF has made it possible for me this year and for this I am grateful.

CHF is making it possible for a lot of other students like me to fulfill their dreams in a career that is so vital to us in the Caribbean. It is so important that we produce skilled men and women to fill the hospitality sector. It is admirable that a company finds a reason to help build and strengthen the industry, by granting scholarships to persons who have a burning interest in the hospitality sector.

Upon completion of my three year bachelor degree programme,I intend to return to my home in St.Lucia and contribute to the ever growing industry.

I want to say thank you to the CHF for helping me move forward in the direction of my dreams.
