Ria Joseph - 2005/2006
As part of my curriculum, I attended Johnson & Wales University internship February-May 2005, where as students we visited and worked for two weeks at four different tourism locations.
The first rotation was the T. F. Green Airport where we learnt about general Rhode Island tourism information, customer service, airport security and procedures as well as map skills.
The second rotation was Convention and Visitors Bureau. Here we also continued to do customer service and general Rhode Island Information as well as Convention packages for meetings and events such as the Spring Flower and Garden Show and other company conventions.
The third rotation was the Official Rhode Island Government State House were we learnt to do the tour and give the tour to visitors. The last rotation was Collette Vacations. This is a travel agency/Tour company located in Rhode Island where we were able to get an idea of the different aspects or divisions of the tour agency.
It was a great experience that helped me learn more about the state I go to school in while being able to have fun doing so. Through this opportunity, I acquired a part-time job at the T. F. Green Airport as a Teaching Assistant where I assist current interns in learning the Airport and helping customers.
While the students aren't here, we grade papers, projects and assist with Transport information from the Airport to other locations within Rhode Island and to other states.
Sincerely
Ria Joseph
