Victoria Elliodore - 2006
The Caribbean Hotel Association is making it possible for budding professionals, like myself, to fulfill their dreams of a career in the hospitality industry- Simply admirable!
If it weren't for the timely interventions of the Caribbean Hotel Foundation and the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, I probably would not be here. I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the respective members of the Foundation for their unwavering support.
Despite the seemingly parochial nature of the institution, the program explores various crucial aspects of this undeniably dynamic hospitality industry—particularly how to successfully promote the services and amenities on offer.
It also examines other major areas of the industry such as rooms division management and hospitality information system.
One of the more intriguing facets of this institution is the UWI House Restaurant that is effectively managed and staffed every Friday night by students. While I may not have had the opportunity to manage this culinary operation, I've certainly had the pleasure of dining at "Spanish Cuisine Night" - the ambience was absolutely spectacular.
The CHA has brought me a step closer to achieving one of my lifelong goals. For quite some time, I've secretly harbored thoughts of becoming a top rung decision maker in the hospitality and all-round tourism industries - to help formulate policies that will assist the region in moving away from their well worn "sun, sea and sand" promotional approach to a far more effective regional marketing campaign;
insistently promoting other unique characteristics of our island nations.
The economic impact of the tourism industry is indisputable and the CHA is doing a great job by providing opportunities for those devoted to promoting the region as a destination of choice. - WELL DONE CHA! Once again, thanks.
