Hayden joined Garmon Greenway, both past scholars, in sharing their personal stories and how the scholarships changed their lives. Hayden commented he went to The Savoy and was so impressed with the number of Africans he met with degrees that he gave his clothes away, filled his suitcases with books, returned home and began studying, knowing then, he needed to make a contribution to Tourism at a national policy[making level. Garmon was absorbing as he told his story of studying wine in California for a summer and being totally supported by the Education Foundation in increasing his scope by working week-ends for high-end winerys learning their styles and fine dining within a vineyard. He returned to CuisinArt fired up and was totally supported by the property as he conceived, built & stocked the best wine cellar & tasting room in Anguilla, in which he hosts wine seminars and tastings.
Nicole offered both men hearty congratulations and challenged Anguillan youth to produce a winning scholar again this year!

CHTA Education Foundation at Marketplace 2009
The Education Foundation teamed with the St. Lucian Ministries of Education & Tourism to host many groups of secondary school students to the "Business on the Beach" working floor area. The Education Foundation hosted interactive sessions with the students to define tourism, the role of hotels within their island, the importance of tour operators to St. Lucian hoteliers and how contracts are negotiated.
The students toured the working floor area and individually reported back on their favorite St. Lucian and regional property and why this place had caught their eye and imagination and how tourists would enjoy it.
20 of the visiting students were aiming for careers in tourism and 4 were focused on becoming general managers of resorts on their beautiful island.
