CSHAE

The Caribbean Society of Hotel Association Executives (CSHAE) was formed by the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) to encourage Association Executives of National Hotel and Tourism Associations to network and exchange information.

CSHAE is an independent organization for the professional development of national hotel association executives from the 33 CHTA member national hotel associations from around the region. The diversity that characterizes the federation of CHTA throughout the Caribbean offers its members the opportunity to benefit from the strengths of its colleagues from other islands and other national hotel associations.

The national hotel associations are CHTA’s direct link to the hotels and the industry in the Caribbean Island destinations. National Hotel Association Executives interface with the CHTA staff to exchange information, opinions and ideas on CHTA programs, services, benefits, industry trends, and professional development.

CSHAE’s Core Purpose

  • To advance professional development and strengthen networking among Caribbean hotel and tourism association executives.

CSHAE’s Core Values

  • To foster a spirit of unity, integrity, accountability, commitment to share, and innovation.

CSHAE Operating Structure:

  • A President is elected for one 2 year cycle
  • An Executive team is elected for the same year
  • A Leadership meeting is held annually
  • Meetings of members are held in conjunction with CHTA’s major annual conferences
  • Conference calls are held with the Executive team bi-monthly
  • Annual dues are paid by AE’s
  • A CHTA staff liaison assists with administration and organization of meetings, conference calls and research

Goals

  • To be an active partner in fostering and advancing a strategic relationship with CHTA
  • To be the official, respected, public voice for Caribbean hotel and tourism association executives
  • To be the indispensable resource for AE professional development and networking
  • To be financially viable
  • Continue to offer valuable and relevant services, programs and forums to benefit AEs
  • Increase membership

Advocacy

One of CSHAE’s major roles is to advocate on behalf of association executives on current issues of pertinence to them and/or their associations. Advocacy issues may include:

  • Workforce Development
  • Safety & Security
  • National Sustainable Development Planning
  • Industry Research
  • Disaster & Emergency Planning
  • Reactive efforts as urgent issues and matters arise (flexibility to address)

Benefits

CSHAE members are eligible to apply for scholarships to attend appropriate educational events e.g. American Society of Association Executives – ASAE annual training conference. Members are encouraged to join the ASAE. CSHAE will cover the cost of airfare, registration and accommodation for an AE who is attending ASAE for the first time. The registration fee will be granted for those who have attended ASAE conferences previously.

CSHAE funds may also be dedicated to cover travel and/or accommodation costs for an AE who would not otherwise be able to attend a major CHTA event and concurrent CSHAE meeting. Members are entitled to attend the Annual Leadership Conference some expenses of which are covered by CHTA.

Member Programs and Services

CSHAE provides optimal and frequent knowledge dissemination to NHA members and maximizes resource-sharing and guidance on common industry issues through surveying and case studies.
